§ 6-1-80. Investigations.

  • (a)

    Upon receipt of an application for a license or permit where any provision of this Code or any secondary code adopted by this Code, necessitates an inspection or investigation before the issuance of such permit or license, the Town Administrator/Clerk shall refer the application to the proper officer, board or commission for making such investigation within forty-eight (48) hours of the time of receipt of such application. The officer, board or commission charged with the duty of making the investigation or inspection, favorable or otherwise, within ten (10) days after receiving the application or a copy thereof, shall conduct such investigation. Failure to comply with the time limits set forth herein shall not impair the validity of any action taken.

    (b)

    The Town Administrator/Clerk may, in his or her discretion, make or cause to be made an inspection in regard to licenses connected with the care and handling of food, the prevention of nuisances and the spread of disease for the protection of health. The Building Inspector shall make or cause to be made any inspections relative to the construction of buildings or other structures. All other investigations, except where otherwise specifically provided, shall be made by a law enforcement officer or by another officer designated by the Town Administrator/Clerk.
