§ 6-5-140. Hold orders.

Any designated law enforcement officer may order a pawnbroker to hold any article deposited with or in custody of any pawnbroker for purposes of further investigation by the law enforcement officer. No sale or other disposition may be made of any article held by any pawnbroker while said hold order remains outstanding. Any such hold order shall be effective for thirty (30) days only, unless a criminal prosecution is undertaken in reference to any such article within such thirty-day period, in which event the hold order shall be effective until said prosecution has been completed or dismissed.
