This Article shall be and become effective not later than January 1, 1981, and the
sales and use tax imposed hereby shall be collected on all taxable sales, service
and transactions not later than that date; provided that the provisions of this Article
relating to approval by the electorate shall become effective thirty days (30) after
posting as provided by law. It is the intent of the Board of Trustees that the sales
and use tax imposed hereby shall become effective at the earliest time permitted by
applicable state law. If state law permits, this Article shall become effective before
January 1, 1981, or the earliest date permitted by state law, such as July 1, 1980,
or other earlier date if permitted. (Prior code 3.06.14)
